Chairman's Report

Dear Fellow NWGC member,
I thought that you might appreciate an update on some of the issues that were raised in my last newsletter.
Your Board of Directors has now approved the purchase of two new mowing machines to replace the aged and only partially functioning existing machines. After extensive negotiation with the two leading manufacturers (John Deere and Toro) and their local agencies it has been decided to break the Toro supply monopoly on our equipment and to lease purchase one item from each supplier.
The Fairway mower will be an ex demo John Deere (with a five year warranty) at the net price (including VAT and after trade in) of £43,700. John Deere machinery is already used by Conwy, Porthmadoc and Rhosneigr golf courses as well as the R & A for Open Competition courses.
The rough cut mower will be a new Toro 48HP at the net price (including VAT and trade in with a three year warranty) of £48,000.
These machines will be financed on a lease purchase basis over five and six years respectively. Their use should make a substantial improvement to the quality of our fairways and the playability of the rough. Their delivery and usage implementation is expected by the end of March.
The substantial rains that we encountered in January managed to permeate virtually the entire roof area of the reception, Pro shop and visitors changing area, making it uninhabitable. Holdsworth Roofing have recovered the entire area and provided us with a fifteen year warranty for the same price that they quoted us some two years ago - £8000 + vat.
The flooding of the course has now fully receded and we should record our thanks to Kelvin Roberts for his assistance and intervention with portable pumping machinery. In the longer term we will need to review the future of the old diesel engine pump as well as the surrounding drainage system on the third fairway.
We are awaiting confirmation from the Welsh Government as to when we might be able to get back and play on our golf course. Current indications are that this might happen at the end of this month. As soon as we are allowed, the Course will re-open.
Thank you to the vast majority of full playing members who have opted to pay the £600 annual subscription for the forthcoming two years. We trust that members will understand that to give further discounts on an already discounted scheme could place your Club in financial jeopardy.
The delayed Annual General Meeting to adopt the accounts for the year ending March 2020 and to appoint and confirm Board Directors will now be held on 3rd May 2021 and it is hoped that we will be able to conduct this as a live event within the Clubhouse. Should Covid restrictions prohibit this, then it will be held under the “Zoom” video meeting protocol.
