Hello to all members and a special welcome to all the new members at Parc Golf Club.
Firstly, I hope that you and your families continue to remain safe and healthy.
The really good news….As I’m sure most of you are aware that the lockdown easing means that from the 24th April we’re now able to play in a four ball which means we can finally start our competitions and should also make it less stressful for everyone whilst booking their teeing off times…the competition committee will be sending out our fixture list early next week.
I just can’t wait as I’m sure all of you are excited to get some sort of normality back in your life playing competitive golf and having a social drink with all our friends that we’ve not seen for what feels like forever…
But…This doesn’t mean that the coronavirus has gone so we still need everyone to be attentive to the Parc rules, face masks to be worn when entering the club house, in the Pro shop, toilets and bar area so remember HANDS…FACE…SPACE… at all times please.

I apologise in advance, this is a going to be a fair read but please do your best to stay engaged and complete the challenge.
We are delighted to finally have restrictions lifted that will allow us to have play in Three balls and Four balls from Saturday 24th April. No doubt many of you, like me, will be looking forward to the more social side of golf now four balls have been sanctioned by the Welsh Government.
Due to the short notice, the easing of restriction coming forward by two days and the demand we currently have it leaves me with the following option only……as of 8pm on Friday 23rd when I open the tee sheet I will also increase this weekend’s allocation per tee time to four players. This simply means that if you have a tee time already in the system another two slots will become available to play alongside you. As we have stated throughout be open and inclusive of playing with other members.
As we move to four balls and stroke-play competitions the time taken to complete a round will undoubtedly increase. Please be patient. Remember you only have 3 minutes to look for a ball. If there is any doubt about finding a ball please put a provisional ball in play.
Etiquette is an integral part of the game, defining golf’s core values. It describes the manner in which the game of golf should be played to ensure all players gain maximum enjoyment.
In short, it’s about “respect”:
Respect for the course – leave the course as you would like to find it by repairing pitch-marks, replacing divots and smoothing out bunkers during covid
Respect for your fellow players – be sportsmanlike and polite, stay by the green to watch them hole out, avoid distracting your playing partners
Respect for the game – by knowing the Rules and etiquette of golf
PARC GOLF CLUB SUPPORTS READY GOLF
Did you know? If each player in a four-ball takes 5 seconds less to play each shot, the round time can be improved by over 25 minutes.
“Ready golf” is a commonly used term which indicates that players should play when they are ready to do so, rather than adhering strictly to the “farthest from the hole plays first” stipulation in the Rules of Golf. The term “ready golf” has been adopted by many as a catch-all phrase for a number of actions that separately and collectively can improve pace of play. There is no official definition of the term, but examples of “ready golf” in action are:
Hitting a shot when safe to do so if a player farther away faces a challenging shot and is taking time to assess their options
Shorter hitters playing first from the tee or fairway if longer hitters have to wait
Hitting a tee shot if the person with the honour is delayed in being ready to play
Hitting a shot before helping someone to look for a lost ball
Putting out even if it means standing close to someone else’s line
Hitting a shot if a person who has just played from a greenside bunker is still farthest from the hole but is delayed due to care of course and leaving the bunker in a playable condition
Note: “Ready golf” is not appropriate for match play.

The following tee sheet guidelines apply….
Monday 26th April – Sunday 2nd May Tee Sheets will be released Friday 23rd April at 8pm.
Monday 3rd May – Sunday 9th May Tee Sheets will be released Tuesday 27th April at 8pm.
Monday 10th May – Sunday 16th May Tee Sheets will be released Friday 30th April at 8pm.
Weekday – 8am - 6pm ( Course to be cleared by 8pm )
Weekends - 7am – 6pm (Course to be cleared by 8pm )
( Competition Bookings Only Saturdays 7-12 & Sundays 7-11 )
Members Guests will now be permitted from the 26th April subject to the appropriate green fee being paid on arrival. We will not be accepting Visitor bookings until further notice.
***COMPETITIONS***
We have an initial schedule in place to take us through the next few weekends, we are a fully inclusive club so it would be great to see ladies participating. Play is generally from the White / Red tees and the events will always be handicap qualifying where possible.
Handicapping authorities have agreed upon bunkers being in play with the addition of a local rule to allow preferred lies. You may lift, clean and place your ball no more than 6 inches from the original spot. DO NOT smooth out an area ready to then place your ball.
On your Members App you must book your time in the “bookable competitions” section not the casual bookings. By booking this way you are committing to play under the competition guidelines and to the payment of appropriate entry fee.
Payment of the entry fee is to remain by CASH.
***HANDICAP CARDS***
New members looking to obtain their first handicap now have the opportunity to mark some cards and submit to us for review. You will need to submit sufficient cards to provide scores for 54 holes of golf. Once you have submitted these scores the Handicap Committee will allocate you a handicap.
For those members who don't wish to enter Competitions they can still complete WHS qualifying rounds which will ensure their handicap is appropriate to their current playing ability. Please advise that you wish to complete a General Score before starting your round. Cards must be returned immediately after the round to Pro Shop Staff.
***VETERANS SECTION***

In line with Welsh Government guidelines, we will be opening the patio area on Monday 26th April. For the initial opening week the bar will be open 11-7 midweek, Saturday 10-7 and Sunday 10-4. The Kitchen will close 1 hour earlier on all days. Access to the patio will be via the meet & greet, Track and Trace details must be taken and we will be table service only. Please do not enter the clubhouse, please be patient and wait at your table to be served.
