Winter Golf is here…..
While we all love 18 holes, it’s not always possible in winter, when daylight hours are limited, so nipping out for quick six or ten is an excellent way of keeping your hand in without keeping you out in the elements for too long. Don’t beat yourself up over your winter scores – just try to have fun, don’t waste your time obsessing over your gross score.
Take advantage of winter rules – they are there for a reason, so use them. Provided your ball has landed on a closely mown area and after marking its original position you may lift, clean and place your ball. You must place the ball within six inches of where it originally came to rest, but not nearer the hole.
Please continue to show respect for the course, your fellow members and the greenstaff – leave the course as you would like to find it by repairing pitch-marks, replacing divots and raking bunkers.
Every golf club will have their own policies and procedures, here at Parc Golf Club our aim is to ensure, where reasonable and practicable, maximum year round high quality safe golf. To do this we must protect the playing surfaces during vulnerable winter months from damage caused by ride on buggies, trolleys and golfers during wet and frosty weather as well as protecting golfers themselves.
Where in the view of the Head Greenkeeper in consultation with the Head Professional conditions reach a point that the continued use of electric and push/pull trollies with standard summer/general use wheels will be detrimental to the course the following will be implemented:
We would encourage all players, who are able to do so, to use carry bags and carry their clubs when playing in the winter months.
All Trolleys will be permitted provided the drive / rear wheels are fitted with “Winter Wheels”.
This time is now upon us and will be mandatory from Monday 25th October 2021.
The use of winter wheels help to reduce contact with the soil over a smaller surface area, making trolleys easier to move whilst protecting the ground, eliminating the damage made by standard trolley wheels. By using winter wheels, we enable the course to be maintained in a better condition which will benefit all players.
Although some people comment that on muddy areas the dimples can "dig in", the fact is that if people are using winter wheels rather than normal wheels there are much fewer muddy areas in the first place, so the positives far outweigh the negatives.
A trolley or buggy should never be taken onto the tees and greens, between a greenside bunker and the green or onto the fringes & aprons of the greens.
Whenever possible please stick to designated pathways, we would further ask that all players respect and follow all traffic routes, as set out by white lines / ropes whether carrying or using a trolley.
