There were two changes from the last match as Ash Rees & Kieran Doherty came into the team to replace Ethan Randall & Steve Graham.
Marcus Opoku Captained the team, ‘’ I would have taken 2-2 as the morning progressed, but the lads turned the match around, with Lee Drew & Kieran Doherty coming back from 3 down to win’’.
Although Tom Foreman & Josh Hardy lost the 18th for a half, there were solid wins for Ash Rees & Dean Plant and Mark Budd & Matt Hart to give ESN a 3 ½ - ½ morning lead.
So only 3pts required from the 8 afternoon singles.
Goodwood took 2 ½ pts from the first three matches to reduce the deficit to 4-3 , but Dean Plant (pictured) won 7 & 6 to take ESN within 1.5pts of victory, with Josh Hardy & Lee Drew having big leads, the game was secure. Mark Budd finished with a ½ and Kieran Doherty secured his second point of the day.
Marcus Opoku got the batting order spot on and will now lead the team into their first semi-final since victory in 2019. Bognor Regis or East Brighton are in the other semi-final and await the winners.
Last year ESN won the plate and aim to go one better this year.
Well done to the team and we hope we can get some support in what looks like being a fantastic game against Worthing on Saturday 19th July
