East Sussex National Scratch Team started their defence by winning their opening 2nd round match against a strong Goodwood team 7 1/2 - 4 1/2 to set up a mouthwatering away tie against Worthing, the competitions most successful club.

Worthing lost to ESN in last year's semi-final and the two giants meet again with Worthing starting as favourites with the home draw.

The match against Goodwood was never going to be easy, but a 2 1/2 - 1 1/2 lead in the morning meant a tied result in the singles would confirm victory.

Wins by Dean Plant, Ash Rees, Tom Foreman, Lee Drew & Mark Robertson completed the win.

The match against Worthing tees off this Saturday at 8.30 and is likely to be the tie of the tournament with a host of quaility County players representing both teams.
