Double success for Ash in Gold Cup
39pts seals the deal for hot ash
Ash Rees won a weather disrupted Gold Cup on a breezy day at East Sussex National.

Play was cancelled on day 1 due to flooded greens ending up in a one round shootout.

There was plenty of quality in the field, Dean Plant , Sussex Open Champion, Tom Foreman recent Sussex Mid-age Champion, Lee Drew winner last week of a Kent OOM event and a host of others, but no one could match Ash Rees 39pts points or 69 gross off the back tees.

The course was playing long at 7106 yards with little run on the fairways due to the rain, but Ash made 5 birdies in a brilliant round to win by 6pts from Dean Plant & Lee Drew on 33pts.

It could be argued that Ash Rees is one of the best golfers to have been a member at ESN, after his round today and equally impressive performance last year in the same competition, very few would argue that he isn’t the best!

The Sussex County Championships are next month at Piltdown GC and we have some great scratch golfers at ESN who will be competing, it would be great to one of them was crowned Champion.

Ash managed to also win the handicap trophy with Duncan Innes finishing 2nd on countback from Carlo Mendes, Jordan Divall took 3rd nett prize with 35pts.

Congratulations to Ash on a magnificent double.
